IOS 10.3.1 JAILBREAK WITH PANGU TEAM AROUND THE CORNER

We finally have some news on the iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak. It looks like Pangu Team, who have released the jailbreak for iOS 9, have allegedly demoed a jailbreak for iOS 10.3.1 at a tech conference in China.
Based on the image shared on the Chinese social media website from the tech conference, it looks like the Pangu jailbreak app is jailbreaking an iPhone 7 running on iOS 10.3.1.  The image was apparently shared by a member of the Pangu team. It is also being speculated that the Pangu team is working with the developers of PP Assistant, and could release the iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak as early as next week.
That image shows a familiar-looking Pangu jailbreak app running on a blown-up iPhone with the word “Jailbreaking…” in the middle of the display. Above the image is a title, which clearly shows “iPhone 7 iOS 10.3.1” to signify that the app is liberating Apple’s latest iPhone running the latest public firmware.

Further speculation has been driven by a post to social media, in Chinese, from what is being described as a “reliable source”:
正在和pp助手公司谈合作。如果谈妥,一周之内发布10.3-10.3.1 jailbreak
The translation is roughly as follows:
We are working with PP Assistant company. If agreed, within a week released 10.3-10.3.1 jailbreak.
Twitter user qwerty860320 has also shared a brief video, which seems to show Cydia running on an iPhone. The text also seems to suggest that it was on an iPhone 7 running iOS 10.3.1.
qwerty860320 also claims that the jailbreak will support all 64-bit devices which means that the Pangu iOS 10.3.1 Jailbreak will be compatible with the following devices:
  • iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, iPhone SE
  • iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, iPad Pro
  • iPod Touch 6G
However, it’s worth exercising some caution and taking a deep breath before making all kinds of assumptions. Pangu has essentially been out of the public eye from a jailbreak perspective since the release of Pangu9. It’s very possible that exploiting iOS 10.3.1 is nothing more than a security research project for the team, and that it has no intentions of actually releasing something to the public.
It’s also very possible that whatever solution the team has to jailbreak iOS 10.3.1 isn’t actually in a position to be publicly release. After all, a simple image doesn’t give away the complexities of what is actually involved.
However, given Pangu’s previous relationship with the jailbreak community, and the fact that we have a presumably genuine social media post outlining the intention to release, we could find ourselves with a new iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak tool sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, remain calm! Do not update any jailbroken device. Save your .shsh2 blobs with TSS Saver for iOS 10.3.1, and you will be able to update later with Prometheus. If you are not on a jailbroken firmware, you have a tougher choice, update, or not update? I would notupdate any 32-bit devices, as they are likely not supported. 64-bit devices on iOS 10.2.1, and iPhone 7(+) on iOS 10.2 have the choice in their own hands. I would still not update these devices, and instead wait a few more days to see if this rumour is substantiated or debunked. It will then be possible to make the final decision a day or two before the closing of the iOS 10.3.1 signing. This is of course for you to decide for yourself however.
